This Goan Green Chutney recipe is handed over to me by my mother in which she dry roasts the onion before grinding it with the rest of the spices along with coconut and coriander leaves. By adding in roasted onion gives the green chutney its unique flavor.
I added just two green chilies as we have two little children in our household. You may adjust the spice and sweetness as per your liking.
This tasty green coconut chutney can be quite versatile. It may be used as a spread for sandwiches for breakfast and snacks and also as a condiment with meals.
Ingredients:
2.5 cups fresh green coriander leaves (chopped)
1 cup freshly grated coconut
2 green chilies
1/2" ginger
4 garlic cloves
1/2tsp Cumin seeds / jeera
3nos Cloves
1/4th tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 lime sized ball of tamarind
1 roasted onion
2 tbsp Sugar
Salt to taste
This chutney can be refrigerated for 6-7 days.
