Underground mining operations in this mine date back to the late 1880's.
By the early 1900's as mining went deeper underground a need for a larger and wider haulage slope was needed.
Engineers and miners cut through old work headings and dropped the main
haulage way as the mine went deeper underground. This later became known as skip car mining.
On the old haulage way remains of mule show prints and various mining artifacts lay scattered. An old mining cart was found still in place where the
miners of that time period left it.
