Let's venture into the heart of the Pematang Gadung Village Forest with our partners at YIARI!

In collaboration with the Cornell Lab's K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and the Bioacoustics Equipment and Training Program, YIARI has been busy installing bioacoustic monitoring devices at Camp Punggurawan, deep within the forest.

These devices will monitor the biodiversity of the area, capturing the sounds of various species, including black hornbills, macaques, orangutans, amphibians, and more!

The data will be used for vital conservation efforts in the region, helping to ensure these animals and their habitats remain protected.

As the video shows, the team must navigate tough terrain and climb trees to position the devices perfectly for sound capture. It's a demanding task!
