Imagine having fresh, nutritious berries a full month before you do now! My goal is to have fresh fruit coming from my garden as many months of the year as possible. Lonicera cerulea, the honeyberry or haskap, is a fruiting honeysuckle that has come to the attention of gardeners the last decade or so. It produces nutrient-dense berries far earlier in the year than any other berry!
Let’s learn all about growing, harvesting, and eating Honeyberries while I pick this very earliest of berries in my garden.
Hardy zones 2-9, not self-fertile (you need two of two different varieties in the same flowering group), doesn’t need staking, not bothered by pests or diseases.
