Scientists have recently discovered that Fungi might be "talking" to each other using a language of up to 50 words.
Electrical impulses were recorded using microelectrodes into the network
of mycelia, the microscopic roots. The electrical impulses and spikes
that were recorded showed word lengths matching human language. "Split Gills", a type of fungus growing on decaying wood, was found to communicate in most complex sentences.
Fungi can sense everything humans sense and much more, including chemicals released by other species. Fungi could not only be communicating among themselves but also reporting the well being
of other plants in the vicinity.
