David W. Bates, MD, MS, Professor, Harvard University, presents a talk about how healthcare information technology can be used to improve patient safety. Dr. Bates is the Medical Director of Clinical and Quality Analysis, Information Systems at Partners HealthCare System, Inc. and Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine at Brigham & Women's Hospital. He also serves as external program lead for research in the World Health Organization’s Global Alliance for Patient Safety. Dr. Bates is an internationally renowned expert in patient safety, using information technology to improve care, quality-of-care, cost-effectiveness, and outcomes assessment in medical practice. The title of his May 4, 2018 Grand Rounds talk is "How Big Data Can Improve Clinical Care." He is a "Dream Speaker" in the UW-Madison Grand Rounds series, having been invited by internal medicine chief residents as a prominent expert in the field.
