This detailed tutorial explains what blocking is, why you block and when you block...plus goes through the 3 different methods of wet blocking, steam blocking and cool mist blocking step-by-step. This guide is for beginners and beyond.
I hope the amount of information isn't too overwhelming, I like to be thorough! The process of blocking itself is very simple, but I think the confusion comes from not knowing when & why to block, and also how to choose the correct method depending on the project and the yarn fibre you are using.
I would definitely recommend blocking a swatch of the yarn you are using before you block your project, just to test that the blocking method you have chosen will work and is the correct one for your yarn (until you are experienced with blocking anyway :))
I hope this video is useful to you!
