This is a set of three videos introducing chalk pastels. Video one is a brief introduction to the materials themselves and the safety precautions you should take when using them (the dust is harmful to breathe.) The second video is an introduction to color theory and color mixing when working with dry media such as chalk pastels, but also applies to the use of colored pencils, oil pastels, crayons, and other colored drawing supplies. The third video gives tips for building a drawing with chalk pastels using a landscape as an example. For all three videos you will need a set of chalk pastels, suitable paper (I recommend using toned paper with pastels and will go over papery types in the first video), and optionally you can also use gloves, a mask, and spray fixative for your final work.
There is no sound or voice-over so play your own music and go at your own pace, breeze past what you already know and pause and skip around as needed. Pictures of the materials needed are at the end of each video. The series will include basic introductions to various art materials and methods in drawing, painting, and much more!
Suited for beginner to intermediate artists, teens and adults.
