Violence erupted at a pro-Palestine encampment on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles, when a pro-Israel mob surrounded the encampment late on Tuesday evening and began attacking the protesters and throwing fireworks into the encampment. Pro-Palestine protesters erected wooden boards and barricades and held placards for protection as counter protesters carrying sticks and poles tried to pull them down.
According to eyewitnesses, law enforcement did not intervene for over two hours by which time the violence had escalated and a number of students were injured.
