Greenberg gives rather simple instructions on how to stop rumination:
1. Don’t ruminate.
2. If there’s a problem that typically leads you to ruminate, your job is to not attempt to solve it.
3. Don’t try to forcefully push it out of your mind or pretend it doesn’t exist.
4. Don’t make an active effort to keep it at the forefront of your thoughts.
