STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators have clashed with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank village of Al Zawiya on Sunday.
The village is near the boundary between Israel and the West Bank.
Israel began the construction of part of the separation barrier in the area last week.
Soldiers fired tear gas to prevent demonstrators from reaching the construction area.
Israel says the barrier is meant to prevent terrorist attacks on its cities, while Palestinians decry it as a land grab.
The barrier has also drawn heavy international criticism.
Meanwhile, in Ramallah, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat said Israel must withdrawal from the Gaza Strip immediately.
Arafat spoke after meeting delegates from the Roman Orthodox church.
