0:18 To take an oral temperature, place the probe gently under the tongue, in the sublingual space. Ask the resident to close his or her lips gently around the probe and avoid biting down on the probe. Hold the probe in place until the temperature reading displays.

0:56 For axillary thermometry, remove the probe from the probe well and connect a clean probe cover. Then simply press the up or down selection buttons on the vital signs monitor until the display switches from ORL to ALY

1:12 To take a patient’s temperature tympanically, place the probe in the ear canal and seal the opening with the probe tip. Once positioned properly, press and release the scan button. When you hear the triple beep, remove the thermometer and record the temperature reading.
