Supermarkets in the US may face negative impacts on their sales due to the end of pandemic-era food stamps, known as emergency allotments. The extra benefits have made up a large portion of food sales, accounting for over 10% of overall dollar-store revenues and over 20% of supermarket sales in lower-income areas. However, SNAP-eligible households in 35 US states will lose at least $95 per month in benefits from March.
