"Slow Dance" is a song performed by American R&B singer-songwriter Keri Hilson, from her debut studio album, In a Perfect World.... It will be released as the fifth official single from the album. The song was primarily written by Hilson and Justin Timberlake and produced by The Royal Court and Jim Beanz.
Hilson filmed two music videos for the song. It will be the follow-up to Hilson's previous worldwide smash "Knock You Down" which reached top 5 in many territories. So far the song is confirmed for only an American release as stated by Hilson in an interview in London, UK.
FIRST VERSION
In July 2009, Hilson said in an interview that she already shot the video for the song with director Paul Hunter. Hilson said that she's "very pleased with the video". She said that "its a bit toned down" because "you got so much censoring, I cant do everything I do on stage". She said that "its reminiscent of the whole late 70s early 80s era in music".
ALTERNATIVE VIDEO
In August 2009, reports surfaced that another music video was shot with director Chris Robinson. The video will also feature cameo appearances by Chris Brown, Omarion, Monica, Polow da Don, designer Melody Eshani, and Melody Thornton.
Robinson explained the concept to Rap-Up.com: Its a really sexy song, but we dont want to fall into the typical love, love, love R&B vibe with that, he revealed. So its a misdirection, so to speak. I wont give too much away, but it starts where you think, Oh, its about her and being sexy. But things take an unexpected turn when Hilsons friends catch her feeling herself a little too much. Shes in her house and by herself, and you kind of think it could be serious, but the song drops out in the middle and her friends catch her being all sexy, basically like, What the f**k are you doing? You are not singing by yourself. The twist portrays her as a woman who doesnt take herself too seriously. Keri Hilson has a great personality and is a real girl. Thats what we want to get across.
The video premiered on September 11, 2009.
