Week two began with Scott Morrison giving the Chinese greeting 'ni hao' to a Korean Australian woman, before eating dumplings in the Sydney suburb of Strathfield. The Chinese-Australian vote came into sharper focus with two Chinese-born candidates running against each other in the Victorian seat of Chisholm. The Liberal candidate, Gladys Liu, was in the headlines after highlighting a 2016 interview in which she said the Chinese community thought transgender and same-sex marriage were 'ridiculous rubbish'
