Whats wrong with my hawk? Thankfully, nothing, and that’s because I know how to recognise particular conditions such as aspergillosis and coccidiosis. If you own a bird of prey, you have a responsibility to think every day, is my bird healthy. There are many bird of prey diseases you need to be able to recognise so you know when to seek veterinary assistance and keep your bird healthy. You don’t need to be a bird of prey health expert, but performing a simple health check on your bird every day will help you to learn what your healthy hawk looks like and make it easy to spot if your bird is unwell. In this video we cover how to perform a daily health check on your hawk as well as common bird diseases. Common bird of prey diseases include aspergillosis, avian influenza/ bird flu, E. coli, and sour crop. Hawk illnesses to watch out for also includes parasitic infections such as coccidiosis and feather mites. I then go over my tips for finding yourself an avian vet to register your bird with.
