This is a two part video, unboxing the Holdfast vacuum chuck system by TMI and testing it by reverse turning a finished bowl. One of the more critical steps in bowlturning is the removal of the tenon. There are various ways to reverse the bowl: cole jaws, longsworth jaws, jam chucks, friction chucks or even blending in the tenon or mortise so it looks like part of the bowl. Vacuum chucking let's you have complete access to the bottom of the bowl even on irregular shapes like this live edge spalted maple crotch bowl.
