Throughout his long academic and scientific career, which began at Politecnico di Milano in 1966, Professor Gerla promoted many initiatives in the field of Telecommunications, and in Networking (Internet) in particular. A tireless teacher (more than 100 PhD students), author of more than 1000 published articles, active participant in the international research community, and avid organizer of conferences and research projects, Mario was not only an excellent Professor, but also a dear friend to many in the telecommunication international scientific community.
The excellent speakers in the program share their expertise, wisdom, and vision on cutting edge research directions in communications networks and contribute to an event in which Mario would have been proud to participate.
