While there can be problems due to too little clotting factors, sometimes you can be born with too much! This causes increased clots and thrombosis. We call this hereditary thrombosis syndrome.
This can be suspected in young patients with a long history of thrombosis. These disorders include:
Factor V Leiden
Protein C and S deficiencies
Anti-thrombin III defiency
Prothrombin gene mutation
