Here is part one of Poh's how-to-cook-rice series, where she teaches us how to cook rice using three different and popular methods. Starting off with the most requested method; Absorption
What you’ll need:
A SunRice bag of your choice - Poh is using SunRice Basmati Rice
A pot
Water
Sieve
Method:
To begin, rinse your rice in cold water until the water runs clear and drain in a sieve.
Add your rinsed rice to your pot and add in your water – for Basmati Rice we will use 1 cup of rice, 2 cups of water*
Bring your water to a boil, then cover your pot and let it simmer for 10 minutes without stirring.
Hot tip: You should see no water and you’ll start to see large pits, like rice has been poked
Then, turn off the heat and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Lastly, fluff up your rice with a rice paddle or a fork, serve and enjoy!
Let us know which method you would like to see next in the comments below, rice cooker or boiling?
*If you are using a different rice type you can refer to back of packet for the recommended rice to water ratio
