Please allow me to introduce FuzzBurner!
*immediate disclaimer: this video was made using a cheap Canon camera in video mode and doesn't do justice to the actual sound.
It's a fantastic sounding old school PNP Germanium Fuzz Pedal I've created and developed after a ton of R&D, reading up on old fuzz circuits, and listening to the many vintage models via youtube and other sites. This was followed up by a large amount of circuit adjustments and tweaks to fine tune one of the best in it's class out there today, bar none.
The graphic is there as a tribute to the Stones and their 50th anniversary tour. After all, Keith's original "Satisfaction" recording was one of the first ever made employing a germanium type of fuzz pedal, followed ever so famously by the likes of Hendrix and many others.
Today most every popular guitarist has at least one Fuzz box in his arsenal from Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, & Kenny Wayne Sheppard to artists like Billy Corgan/Smashing pumpkins, Muse, the Black Keys, etc...
BUT they are not all the same or even close! Heck, the majority of them made today are factory mass productions made with cheap bulk Chinese parts with low cost Chinese assembly and techniques. You get what you pay for.
FuzzBurner is made entirely by hand, using top grade parts, and carefully selected old-school pnp germanium transistors (this is vitally important).
FuzzBurner is loosley based on a three tranny Tone Bender circuit but that was changed a good deal using some of the same tried and true tube amp design techniques and ideas that I also employ making custom tube amplifiers.
FuzzBurner is atypical for a fuzz because it is very smooth and not raspy, gritty, buzzy or worse - and on the other end is overly compressed dull undefined mish-mash as most fuzz pedals often sound like as well. It does a nice job of retaining the guitars' natural tonewood sound and pick-up selection up to the fuzziest settings and cleans-up very well by rolling back the guitar volume knob.
FuzzBurner also very touch sensitive to pick attack while the natural germanium break-up wonderfully imitates that of a tube amp giving up velvety harmonic content up to volcanic proportions. Yet it too can be minimized to the point that it can even be used as a normal boost just above unity gain with just the slightest amount of "hair" on the note(s).
FuzzBurner is quite versatile indeed and is very addictive!!! Once switched "ON" you can't help keep from playing without it as the feeling of sweet orders of soft harmonic distortion content and singing sustain into musical feedback (if wanted) is totally under the control of your finger tips!
The controls are very interactive so there's many hours of enjoyment discovering and utilizing all of the various shades of smooth fuzz which can be found in it's wide powerful range.
Since the germaniums are PNP types, they require a negative voltage circuit which allows it to be used on most all modern "negative tip" pedal boards. This is NOT true of many other fuzz pedal boxes employing PNP germaniums (and why most don't like messing around with them). It is more costly, time consuming, and trouble to use these but the rewards far out weigh the alternative if you want the best for your tone quest.
If you would like one of your own, I build and test these by hand one at a time to assure every one meets the standards and requirements they must perform by. Build time normally is appx. one - two weeks just send me a private message.
