NUTSHELL: God took away David’s sin and said that he didn’t have to die, as he should have. But David was not allowed to keep the son he’d had.

CONTEXT: David’s murder and adultery found out .

And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against
Yahweh. And Nathan said to David, Yahweh also has caused your sin to pass over. You shall not die. 2 Sam 12:13
