Terry Gilliam is arguably the director best suited to adapt Alice in Wonderland given his fantastical visual style and dark sense of humor. But what happens when he develops just the Jabberwocky poem (included in Through the Looking-Glass) and adapts it into a feature length motion picture? Was he able to sufficiently shed his Monty Python roots as he attempted to establish his own directorial identity? And how does an adaptation of just a poem included in an Alice book fair as an adaptation?
