Saxophone Sisters India fame M S SUBBALAXMI is the only female saxophonist with "Guinness World Record" holder currently in the world and "LIMCA BOOK OF RECORD" winner and
"INDIA'S GOT TALENT" Season -1 Semifinalist, known as SAXOPHONE SUBBALAXMI is quite
different from other musicians you meet. What sets her apart is the virtue of her choice of
instrument and talent. She is the famous accomplished women Saxophonists in India today.
Music is in her family. Her father is a mridangist, grandfather was a musician in the erstwhile
Royal Court of Mysore and there are more than 10 percussionists in her family.
Saxophone Subbalaxmi musical journey began at the age of five with vocal training. At the age
of 13, Subbalaxmi began to learn saxophone from the Indian Saxophone maestro, Padmashree
Dr. Kadri Gopalnath. Since then there has been no looking back and she have successfully
earned herself the name -'Saxophone Subbalaxmi'. Her musical repertoire ranges from
Carnatic music, Fusion, Bollywood and Western pop Music.
Saxophone Subbalaxmi is also very unique in her costume as she wears traditional south
Indian Saree. Audience will be very much surprised to see an Indian lady performing western
instrument Saxophone in traditional costume, so she is named as “Sax with Saree” lady.
She is working with few of her upcoming classical fusion projects after getting an overwhelm
response of her TIRTHA VITTAL KSHETRA VITTAL a well-known Marathi Abang and RAGI
THANDIRA a famous Dasara pada in south India. Also she has experimented a very famous
Indian Classical composition MAHAGANAPATHIM to western fusion beats in her solo
performance is very attractive and unique to the audience. Still more experiments are going on
and more to come in future for her fans and Music lovers.
Saxophone Subbalaxmi appearances throughout the world include - among many others. She
have performed over 3000 performances until now both on national and international grounds
and travelled more than 17 countries. Subbalaxmi is the recipient of the "PADMABHARATHI"
award, "YUVAKALA BHARATHI" award, “MADHURA MURALI” Award, “YOUNG MUSIC
MASTERO” award to name a few. And also they have made an entry to the "LIMCA BOOK OF
RECORD" for being the only women Saxophonists in the country.
