Object 704 | Overview of the tank and armor
Object 704 (ISU-152 of the 1945 model of the year) is an experienced Soviet heavy anti-tank self-propelled artillery unit (ACS) during the Great Patriotic War. Developed in 1945 under the leadership of Zh. Ya. Kotin on the basis of the IS-3 and IS-2 units. It was distinguished by rational angles of inclination of the armor. Passed the tests. It was not in service . In the name of the vehicle, the abbreviation ISU means "self-propelled installation based on the IS tank" or "IS installation", and the index 152 is the caliber of the main armament of the vehicle. Refinement of the "model of 1945" was required to distinguish the experimental self-propelled guns from the serial ISU-152.
