After finally busting open my copy of Scythe which had been sitting on my shelf for the last few years, and really enjoying the first game, I decided to paint up the Crimean Khanate mechs. Though the team colour is yellow, I decided they look like they are inspired by 1940’s tractors, which are commonly red. Leaving the edge of the base yellow and giving the base a subtle yellow hue should tie them nicely to the Zehra & Kar figure when I get around to painting that!
I started off masking the edge of the base to keep the yellow, then priming it with black. then painting two coats of Flat Red. Then tidied up the black areas with Black. A decent drybrush of gunmetal grey brings out the rivets and paint wear on the edges. Next, I apply some dry rust to make the mechs look even more used! Then we start work on the base with some Thick Mud painted with Flat Earth followed by a Flesh Wash and highlighted with Flat Yellow. To finish off I added some light brown static grass.
