The ancient Greeks believed that life was what you made of it, and that what you put in was what you'd get out. Do good things, be kind and please the gods, and all would be well. The opposite of that? Well...that was NOT so good. In fact, they had a word for it: HUBRIS. And there were some SERIOUS (sometimes deadly...or worse) consequences for it, with some pretty intense mythological and supernatural beings who were at the ready to dispense punishment!
