A general overview of the Book of Exodus, which name means to leave, exit, or depart. The events surrounding it are some of the most important in the history of the nation of Israel. A few of the major parts are:
1) The emancipation God brought about for the Hebrew people when He delivered them from slavery in Egypt, and lead them on a journey to Mount Sinai.
2) The covenant God established with the Hebrew people @ Mount Sinai, were He gave them the famous 10 Commandments and other corresponding laws to help govern and regulate their new society.
3) The Tabernacle God instructed the Hebrew people to build as a place of religious practice and worship.
The overarching theme of the book is about all of the amazing things God did for His people, which included delivering them from slavery in Egypt, guiding and protecting them on their journey to the promised land, as well as establishing them into an official nation holy and acceptable to God. This new nation of Israel was to serve an example to all other nations on what it means to be a unique and holy people unto God.
The primary human character of the book is Moses, a man God chose as his representative to lead the people of Israel from Egypt and establish them as a unique nation. The two of the most famous events of the book are:
1) The 10 Plagues that God sends upon Egypt in Chapters 7-12
2) The 10 Commandments God gives to Israel in Chapter 20
