"High Rise" (2017)
sound installation
6 suspended aluminum resonating pipes with loudspeakers
produced with technical partnership of OMP Engineering
in cooperation with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice
The site specific sound installation was designed in order to enhance the space of the first floor of Fabbrica Alta, a former six storeys high wool factory in Schio (Italy).
Six aluminum pipes, whose sizes represent the height of each floor of the building, are suspended from the ceiling, thus creating a long central perspective line in order to develop horizontally the six storeys of the factory. Six loudspeakers in the pipes emit sound waves tuned to theharmonics of the resonance frequencies of the building, so as to create – not only visually, but also acoustically – a spatial perception of Fabbrica Alta.
