In calling their seventh witness of suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial, House impeachment managers presented testimony from Greg Cox, a former special prosecutor in the Travis County District Attorney's office who conducted a probe into Nate Paul and Ken Paxton in October of 2020.
Describing the outset of what he called a "preliminary investigation" on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023. Cox put together a memo of possible charges the office was considering investigating in relation to Paxton and Paul in 2020.
Cox said those potential charges to be investigated included bribery, accepting a gift to a public servant, abuse of official capacity, election offenses tied to possible money laundering, tampering with government records, perjury, coercion of a public servant, official oppression and retaliation.
