On the eve of Armenian Genocide commemoration, thousands of people in the capital of Yerevan marched from Republic Square to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.
The torchlight procession was to commemorate the 107th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
This year’s procession was entitled “Wake up Lao”. The participants were heard collectively singing "Zartir lao" — a popular Armenian revolutionary folk song. Composed in the 1890s, it praises the prominent fedayi leader Arabo and is a wake up call for struggle against the Turks.
The event started at 7:30pm local time and ended around 11:30pm Yerevan time.
The Armenian Report attended the procession.
Armenia’s 2nd and 3rd presidents were also in attendance along with other current and former government officials.
The traditional torchlight procession is initiated by the ARF Youth Organization in Armenia annually.
