(16 Mar 2021) Fighting between forces loyal to Yemen's internationally recognised government and Houthi rebels continued on Friday in the Hajjah Province in the country's northwest.
Government forces claim to have wrestled control of several villages from the Houthis in the area in recent days.
On Saturday, they issued a statement saying that large areas were taken from the Houthis in the Abs district of the governorate.
The battles also intensified in the governorates of Maarib and Taiz in recent days.
A military source loyal to the government claimed dozens of fighters were killed in the battles, most of them Houthis.
The conflict in Yemen erupted nearly six years ago, after the Houthis swept into the capital and seized much of the country's north.
A Saudi-led military coalition launched a bombing campaign to dislodge the Houthis and restore the internationally recognised government.
The stalemated war has killed around 130,000 people, pushed millions to the brink of famine and spawned one of the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
