$8000 shared tax relief cap between VCMA & RSTU
- Plan before the year ends, Take action on 1 Jan 2022
- Calculate Integrated Shield Plan and Careshield Life (above 30 y/o) Premiums deductible
- e.g. ISP costs $800, and CSL costs $200. Total VCMA Opportunity = $1000
- Voluntary Contribute S$3000 to Medisave Account, which is the increased Basic healthcare Sum (BHS) limit from S$63,000 to S$ 66,000
- For the remaining $5000 cap for RSTU-SA, need to deduct the premium amount for opportunity to VCMA when ISP and CSL premiums are deducted subsequently ($5000-$1000 = $4000 RSTU SA)
- VCMA still possible after premiums deducted as MA will be reduced by the premium amount hence there is capacity to top up to BHS
