Recently, the Atlantic Council’s Africa Center and the Policy Center for the New South launched a pair of reports on external power competition in Africa, with one report focused on traditional powers and the other on emerging powers in the region. In advance of report launch events on the Red Sea and the Sahel to be held December 14 and December 16, Maha Skah, international relations specialist at the Policy Center for the New South, sat down to discuss why it was important for the report authors to examine competition between emerging powers in Africa.
