The Dionysus Project is an innovative, experiential training that presents acclaimed actors performing dramatic readings of scenes from The Bacchae, an ancient play about the coming of Dionysus—the god of ecstasy and wine—to Greece, as a catalyst for guided discussions about the unique barriers and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people today. This 90-minute, interactive training—half performance, half discussion—uses a Greek tragedy written nearly 2,500 years ago, about a god who challenges traditional notions of gender and sexual orientation, to catalyze powerful conversations between diverse audiences in professional settings, breaking down stereotypes, cultivating understanding and compassion, and inspiring positive action.
