Bigger tires on the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. 265/65 R17 Fit?
(My Trailhawk has the Hazard Sky 2 inch lift.)
After exploring this road- [ Ссылка ] . I discovered a couple of rubbed spots on the factory Firestone AT Tires. Yes, this road was rougher than most we travel on but I don't like no sidewall protection on the tires. So lets fix that with some new tires. We go to Discount Tire here in Texarkana for a test fit and install of bigger tires. We tried the 265/70 R17 first and they did go on but would need some trimming to not rub. Next we put on the 265/65 R17 and they fit with zero rubbing. Although at full lock it is close it did not rub. I did trim just a little of the front flare inside front and used a heat gun to push back the plastic inner liner a tad behind the front tire. I do not think this is mandatory to run this size. I also have a 2 inch Hazard sky lift. Lift install - [ Ссылка ] and [ Ссылка ] videos.
I do believe with the two inch lift you can run the 265/65 R17 without any further modification.
One of the big concerns for me was if the bigger tire would fit in the spare tire location or not. As you will see in this video it does fit. I even got the factory storage containers to fit. Any bigger and you will have to make some changes in the spare tire location. I have had time to drive the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with the new Nitto Ridge Grapplers . Right now these tires are quieter than the factory Destination AT Tires. I have also had the opportunity to drive the new tires in wet and flooded roads. I had no issues and they felt secure on the road. Handling seems just as good even with the bigger tires. I feel better having more sidewall protection with these nittos.
