The Hyryder and Grand Vitara are both made by Toyota. Three things to help you choose between them:
First, the price tag. Grand Vitara is cheaper than the Hyryder for all engines except the strong hybrid. The strong hybrid is cheaper for the Toyota Hyryder. More importantly, the strong hybrid is available in a less loaded S variant that is considerably cheaper, which is a big plus!
Second, service quality. Service from Toyota, although with a smaller network than Maruti Suzuki, is always better comparatively and more importantly, it is mostly consistent throughout India. This ensures that your ownership experience will be much better with Toyota.
Third, the warranty. Toyota’s offers a 3 years/100,000kms warranty which can be extended to 5 years/220,000kms. Maruti’s offers 2 years/40,000kms which can be extended to 5 years/100,000kms. For the hybrid battery, they both offer 8 years/160,000kms warranty. Toyota’s edge is in service, which is exemplary, even though they have fewer dealerships and service centers compared to Maruti Suzuki.
