Power tube comparsion:
0:00 Mullard XF4 EL34 (NOS)
1:23 JJ EL34 new production
2:50 SED Winged C (NOS)
All other variables were kept the same (guitar, amp, amp settings, ..).
Amp was a Solodallas SD50 (Marshall JTM50 clone), guitar was a 1968 Gibson SG Standard.
The Mullards clearly have that signature 'Growl' and definition the others don't have. But - are they worth the (outrageous) amount of extra money? Let me know !
Preamp tubes were 70's Philips labelled Mullard long plate 12AX7/ECC83's.
