The documentary describes assistance delivered by the U.S. Government, through USAID, to the areas struck by the October 2005 earthquake.
The U.S. Government has been on the forefront of relief and reconstruction since the October 2005 earthquake struck Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) regions. Along with other donors, the United States provided medical and social relief to 2. 6 million survivors and helped them return to their communities.
To assist with longer-term recovery, in early 2006, USAID launched a $200 million Earthquake Reconstruction Program. The program worked to help rebuild schools and health facilities destroyed by the earthquake; revive and improving education and healthcare services by training teachers and medical staff; restore livelihoods with expanded economic opportunities; and help the population return to their previous lifestyle.
