Russia launched the final Soyuz-U rocket planned for 05:58 UTC, February 22nd 2017 from Launch Pad 1/5 of Baikonur Cosmodrome. The rocket carried the unmanned cargo spacecraft Progress MS-05 into orbit. The craft will arrive Friday morning at the International Space Station.
The Soyuz-U rocket began life with it's first launch back in 1973 and has since launched 786 times making it the most long lasting rocket in history. The Soyuz-U is being replaced with the more modern Soyuz-U variants.
