2021 was a unique year. Times were tough, for many of you in Australia, and many of you around the world. On the 31st of March we turned 100 years old, and our Centenary year was both challenging and exceptional in its own way.
When the Royal Australian Air Force was formed by pioneer aviators after the First World War, nobody could have foreseen where we are now, today. The evolution over the last century, of our people, our technology, and our community, has led to us being a truly world-class Air Force. But even five years ago, nobody could have foreseen the year we would have in 2021.
Helping our community at home and abroad. Training with and supporting our friends and neighbours. Working with industry and technology that will create our own future. While the COVID-19 pandemic made planning events difficult, our Centenary year was still full of remarkable achievements.
At the heart of all of these achievements are our personnel. Our technicians, engineers, support staff, nurses, and of course our aircrew – and many others.
We’re ready to respond to any challenge, with our friends and neighbours around the world, just as we have for the last 100 years. We’re more proud than ever to serve our country, to protect our community and its prosperity, and to continue the exceptional legacy of one of the world’s oldest, and best Air Forces.
