How is hair transplant surgery done? Hair transplant is a surgery that is done in the operation theater. All precautions are taken to make sure that this surgery is safe. There is a pre-operative workup there is prepping before surgery and the surgery is done in the operation theater. The pre-operative workup will include some blood tests, chest x-rays, ECGs and depending on your health condition if you are a diabetic or hypertensive or any other illness we may need to take our opinion from a physician to see if you're fit for surgery. What this does is that it makes the surgery safe for you. On the day of the surgery there is a preparation done your dresses are changed in pre-operative area you are taken to the operation theater. You are made to lie down on an operative table and then the surgery is performed this surgery is done under local anesthesia. You are awake throughout the procedure you can get up for a bio break you can request your doctor if you're thirsty for a glass of water you can go for a coffee break you can have your lunch in between. So you're completely awake through the procedure the procedure will last the most parts of a day depending on the quantity of hair that needs to be put. At the end of this procedure you will be given addressing. The dressing will be on your head and you will be given a sterile OT cap to wear and you will leave the premises of the hospital. When you go home there are certain post-operative care that is given to you which you will have to follow diligently so that the transplanted hair is taken care of well. So once you follow this few restrictions will be there for 48 hours or so after which you're free to do everything. This in a nutshell is how the hair transplantation procedure is done. Depending on the kind of procedure that you choose and your surgeon is comfortable with you may have stitches on the head if you have a FUT procedure there will be sutures on the head. If you have a FUE procedure there are no sutures on the scalp. So those are few small differences between the FUT and the FUE procedure. But however the pre-op, interop and post operative rest of the things will be the same.
