In this short video, we drop in on one of the Australian Paramedical College's clinical workshops held on the Queensland Gold Coast campus and hear from students who are studying pre-hospital emergency health care qualifications online.

Nathan tells us how he really likes the practical side because he is already working as a Medical Emergency Services Officer in the mining and resource sector. The HLT51015 – Diploma of Paramedical Science (superseded by HLT51020 - Diploma of Emergency Heath Care) he is currently studying, builds on his existing medical knowledge and extends his clinical competency. Like most students, Nathan really enjoys the practical, hands-on aspect of the workshops.
You'll meet Cristina, who is studying the HLT31120– Certificate III in Non-emergency Patient Transport. She tells us how she was thinking about studying for a while and watching the Ambulance and Paramedic programs on TV, literally spurred her to take action.
Having always cared about people, this line of work seemed to be the most obvious and natural choice for her.
Then there's Cat; who tells us how she was a nurse back home in Scotland and is adding to her existing skills by studying the HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care and Diploma of Paramedical Science (superseded by HLT51020 - Diploma of Emergency Health Care).
Skills advancement and a passion to get out there in the community and help people is a huge motivation for Cat. Echoing the sentiment of every student at APC, Cat wants to become more hands-on and feel 'the rush' of working in an emergency services role.
Finally, we meet Ian from the UK who was looking for a new challenge and since starting his studies, has never looked back. With a 10 year career in air crash rescue behind him.
Ian firmly believes if you procrastinate, you're going to miss out on a wonderful and rewarding experience.
