Part 2/5: MapFactor Navigation with TOMTOM MAP vs. FREE OSM data (left: MF-TTM, right: MF-OSM)
the navigation elements Voice Guidance (VG) and passive lane guidance assistant (PLGA) are produced 100% from the loaded map data alone. if a map has errors, then the navigation elements produced by the app will be wrong. likewise if a map is error-free but the app has a flawed translation algorithm, then the app will produce wrong navigation elements too. TomTom Map (TTM) data is considered "professionally error-free". We can use the TomTom GO Mobile (TTGM) app to compare the navigation details between TTGM (=the reference) and any other TTM-based navi app like Sygic or MF-TTM. Then we will know that any minor navigational discrepancies between the TTM-based navi apps can't be due to the loaded map, because the loaded map is the same: identical TTM data!
MapFactor (MF) is wonderful in that it lets the user choose between OpenStreetMap (OSM data, 0.00€) and TomTom Map (TTM data, 14.99€). Shoppers new to MF may wonder if MF-TTM looks or performs better than MF-OSM. May this video help with your purchase decision!
I can recommend MF-OSM fwiw, the full version with HUD + Alternative Routes costs 6€ only, which is a fantastic price. MF-TTM is worth the 14.99€, if you dig MF and trust professional map data more than OSM data. OSM data quality&quantity is awesome for gemani, for example, but worthless for most Asian countries. TTM data quality&quantity is always great for each TTM-supported country.
