This video is a how to on annealing nonferrous metals (gold, silver, copper, brass, bronze, etc.) it is part of a collection of videos to supplement the book Chainmail Bottle Carriers: a fashion statement you can make, and provides information useful for chainmail (chainmaille) workers and others who work nonferrous metals.
In addition to practical techniques the video covers basic theory about annealing (why we do it and how it works); tricks for knowing when your silver has reached annealing temperature; and information about the tools used in the annealing process.
Those interested in ferrous metal annealing are directed to my ferrous annealing video which covers techniques for those metals (which differ from techniques for most nonferrous metals). People interested in annealing aluminum should also view the ferrous annealing video as aluminum anneals more like a ferrous metal than it does most nonferrous metals that can be annealed in a home/small shop.
The author/videographer values open discussion about metal work and metal working techniques. Constructive comments and criticisms from the creative and metal working communities are welcome.
