STORYLINE
Mourners including friends and families of the passengers aboard Air France Flight 447 which crashed into the Atlantic Ocean began arriving for an ecumenical service at Paris' Notre Dame on Wednesday.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy was expected to join the mourners, which included a number Air France crew.
"All of this, it's hard, it's incomprehensible, it could have happened to all of us," said Air France employee Jean-Marc Jaouen.
Ethan Benito and Gloria Moleski, employees of United Airlines, also attended to pay their respects.
"No matter what airline it is that has something like this happen, we kind of feel like an extended family, (...) we kind of feel like a distant family member is gone," said Benito.
Prayers were also said for the crash victims at Paris' main mosque.
Rescuers have found no signs of life after spotting wreckage of the missing plane in the ocean.
