Electronic gaming machines are becoming a quality-of-life issue in Philadelphia communities, akin to and often a part of Stop-and-Gos. While the Governor has proposed a larger tax on those revenues, these machines are largely unregulated. In a Pa. House Appropriations Committee public hearing on the 2024-25 budget proposal, state Rep. Morgan Cephas asked the Dept. of Revenue how they plan to address the safety issues for neighborhoods and craft a more regulated industry.
