Sarah Lloyd-Kolkin, Director of Strategic Operations with UCLA Health System, says that support for UCLA's patient flow initiative started at the top. Organizational and process changes driven by the cross-department initiative have already made a significant impact on the number of monthly discharges and in the number of patients UCLA can can care for annually without adding additional beds. As UCLA Health System moves forward, Lloyd-Kolkin sees their patient throughput efforts having an even bigger impact on the quality of patient care and overall operational efficiency.
