This IMF world bank criticism comes from Richard Werner, a German banking and development economist. He criticises the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and world bank, stating that they are "essentially a continuation of the colonial relationships on an economic front."
Werner's view of the IMF is it is basically a form of neocolonialism.
When Ross Ashcroft asks "Who are they serving?" Werner responds "You just need to look at the result, The result has been that developing countries have consistently been suppressed in their economic development and their resources have been extracted very efficiently and very cheaply for the benefit of the industrialized countries."
