HOW could Wolverine fight in both the D-Day Invasion of Normandy AND be a prisoner of Japan a year later?
There actually are a small amount of navy and army airforce personnell who fought in both Normandy and the Pacific Theater and many soldiers who fought in the Pacific Theater ended up becoming prisoners of war, like Wolverine.
Many have asked, how could Wolverine have been made a POW? Despite his healing factor, he can be knocked out. We saw it in X-Men Origins after the firing squad, we saw it in X-Men 2 when a cop fired on his head, we even saw it in Deadpool and Wolverine when a giant piece of metal was magnetized, hit them and knocked them out.
The Japanese clearly knew his capabilities which was why he was trapped in a locked well that went at least 100 meters down.
If he had the adamantium however, most likely no hole could hold him as he’d be able to climb up. He’d have to be trapped in an adamantium cell or a tank of water that would prevent such an event.
I als believe the military knew Wolverine was not normal which is why they continued to enlist him and capitalize on what he was capable of.
